Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

Meyer Holistic Health is out of network with all insurance and is self-pay. We do accept HSA/FSA cards and will provide superbills for you to submit if your insurance provides out of network coverage.

In accordance with federal law and the Medicare Mandatory Claims Submission Rule, our office is unable to provide covered chiropractic services to Medicare beneficiaries. This applies to all individuals age 65 and older, or those otherwise enrolled in Medicare.

Chiropractic physicians are not permitted to “opt out” of Medicare, and by law, any covered service provided to a Medicare beneficiary must be submitted to Medicare for payment—even if the patient wishes to pay cash. Federal regulations carry strict penalties for practices that do not comply with this rule.

Because our practice is structured as a direct-pay, non-insurance office, we cannot meet Medicare’s billing requirements. As such:

  • We are unable to accept new patients who are Medicare-eligible.

  • Existing patients who become Medicare-eligible will be referred to a trusted Medicare-enrolled provider for ongoing care.

We understand this may be disappointing, and we are happy to help connect you with a provider who can continue your care within Medicare’s guidelines.

Thank you for your understanding as we uphold federal compliance requirements.

Is it safe for my infant to be adjusted?

Yes!! Chiropractic adjustments to infants are used with the pressure of a nickel. The main technique used to adjust infants and children is craniosacral therapy and fascial unwinding. It often looks like gentle stretching. The infant brain doubles in the first year of life and Dr. Emily helps to make sure the skull bones can accommodate all this fast growth!

Is it safe for me to be adjusted while I’m pregnant?

Yes!! Dr. Emily uses Webster Technique and Spinning Babies releases for pregnant women. Chiropractic adjustments and fascial unwinding are so beneficial for pregnant women. It helps optimize the pelvis and surrounding soft tissue to help baby and mom be more comfortable, it can also make labor smoother and more comfortable for both of you too!

What do I need to bring to my functional medicine appointment?

Just yourself and your problems! If you have previous labs from other providers that you would like Dr. Emily to look at, you can bring those along. During the first visit you and Dr. Emily will decide what kind of testing, if warranted, is best for your care. Everyone is different, we will make a plan specific to your needs.

How can you help my child with learning disabilities?

Learning disabilities like ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc. have a multitude of different causes from trauma in utero or during birth causing cranial distortions, genetic predisposition, toxic overload, gut imbalances, traumatic brain injury, and immune system issues. Dr. Emily will help identify what the contributing factors are and come up with a plan to help address these issues.

What is the difference between dry needling and acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese Medicine that treats the organs of the body through the meridians or paths the organs make on the skin. Many times acupuncture needles will be put in different areas of the body that seem no where close to the problem area. For example a common point in acupuncture for low back pain is actually located on the hand between the thumb and pointer finger. Acupuncture is used to help fertility, low back pain, immune system issues, inflammation, prepare for labor, and GI issues. Dry needling is a type of acupuncture where the needles are inserted more deeply at the area of discomfort. The needles are inserted into the muscle to release trigger points to help alleviate pain. It is great for disc injuries, sprained joints, or stubborn neck muscles that won’t respond to massage or adjustments.
